This city rated as the third best place in Russia to start the business. S7 Airlines had its head office in Novosibirsk before the relocation of its headquarters. The city contains the headquarters of some the large Russian companies like RATM (Holding), Belon, The Siberian coast (Food Company), NETA (IT Company), In Marko (Food Company).

The city is located in front of the Ob River in the West Siberian Plain. To the southern side of the city is the Ukok Plateau, which is the main part of the Golden Mountains of Altai UNESCO World Heritage Site. Novosibirsk is the third biggest city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is the first city in Siberia which has established its metro system which was opened in 1985. Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport is responsible for handling all types of air traffics to Europe and Asia as well as to other Russian cities. Tolmachevo is the hub for S7 Airlines. It also contains the Novosibirsk Elitsovka Airport and a smaller field for general aviation at Novosibirsk Severny Airport. Novosibirsk was one of the main stations popular television show, "The Amazing Race."
