Des Moines is the capital and the most heavily populated city in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is also the county seat of Polk County. A little section of the city extends into Warren region. The Des Moines-West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area consists of five central Iowa counties: Polk, Dallas, Warren, Madison, and Guthrie.
