Other names of the city are "The Forest City", "The Cleve", "Sixth City”,” The Rock n Roll Capital", "Plum City", and "C-Town".
Cleveland’s situated on the bank of Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie has been key to its development. The Ohio and Erie Canal together with rail connections helped establish the city as a main American manufacturing hub. Steel and several other manufactured goods emerged as its industries. The city has been successful in diversifying its economy to become less dependent on its struggling manufacturing sector.
